DEKRA respects your privacy

The protection of your privacy in the processing of personal data and the security of all business data is an important concern to us at DEKRA Media, which we take into account in our business processes. Furthermore, it is important to us that you always know when we store which data and how we use them.

Data protection

DEKRA Media processes the user's data necessary for the use of the DEKRA Safety Web ('user data') in accordance with the data protection laws. The provision of user data is a prerequisite for the conclusion of a contract. DEKRA Media also stores this data in order to inform the licensee about services provided by DEKRA Media (advertising purposes).

User data

In particular, the protection of personal data such as name, address, telephone number or e-mail address and the responsible handling of the information you entrust to us are important to us. This also includes the data that is generated in the background when using the Internet. If you are asked to provide personal information on the individual web pages, you will be informed of the intended purpose of processing and, if necessary, asked for your consent. Your visit to our website is also subject to data protection. By default, our web servers store the name of your Internet service provider, the website from which you visit us, the websites you visit on our site and the date and duration of your visit. When the Internet pages are called up, DEKRA receives usage data which is stored for backup purposes. The user data is evaluated for statistical purposes. The regular evaluation of the access statistics to the web pages shows the temporal development of the visitor response as well as the different success of different offers on the web page. Among other things, it is the basis for controlling the further development of the website. No user data is disclosed to third parties, neither for commercial nor non-commercial purposes.

Applicable law and legal basis

DEKRA processes your data in accordance with the applicable European and German data protection regulations and treats them confidentially. The legal basis for processing and storage is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and § 7 UWG (Law against Unfair Competition) for advertising purposes.

The GDPR grants data subjects rights of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), objection (Art. 21) and data portability (Art. 20) vis-à-vis the processor. According to § 7 para. 3 UWG the client can object to the use of his data for advertising purposes at any time without incurring any costs other than transmission costs according to basic tariffs.

Exercise of rights under the GDPR and Data Protection Officer

The exercise of certain rights pursuant to the GDPR and the objection pursuant to the UWG must be declared to DEKRA Media’s Data Protection Officer: safety@dekra-media.de.
